This was the third time that I'd fitted dampers or springs so I pretty well knew what I was doing.

Fitting the complete Koni kit took me four hours (started at 9.00pm, finished at 1am). That's 1 hour for rear and 1.5 hours per side at the front. Still a lot of hassle separating the track ends and ball joints. Needed combination of heat from blow torch, some hammering and my fork.

I did have to think for a while as to which way up the springs went. In the end I opted for the writing to be the correct way up. I've talked to a few people about this since and the consensus is that it doesn't actually matter.

After I'd lowered the car I noticed that with the rear springs the bottom two coils actually touched when compressed by the weight of the car on them. I've since talked to a few people about this and apparently that's OK. I was told that it's something to do with European regulations about the spring not falling out with the car jacked up. I'm not entirely sure about that since I've been reading a book on suspension design and this feature is shown as a compact spring design.
